1 The BTBA TPT British Masters 2019
As in the previous two years the tour is still growing, and we are gaining new members all the time. For the third year in a row we are pleased to present to you our plans for the BTBA Tenpintour Masters event. The event will, once again, be held at Stroud Bowl and will run on a similar basis to the event that has proved successful in the past.
The Masters is a handicap event based entirely on your individual average as it stands at the conclusion of the season. We do not include any TPT bonus points. Handicaps will be calculated at 75% of the difference between your average and the scratch score which will be set at the end of the TPT season to reflect the highest scratch average obtained.
Eligibility for the event will be the same as for all BTBA Tenpin Tour events but you must have participated in at least 5 events throughout the season to qualify. If, by the middle of October we feel that event will benefit from additional entries we could possibly extend the invitation to those that have bowled 4 events. But at this time, we do not expect this to be the case.
We fully expect that there will be a separate ladies’ section but as usual this will ultimately depend on the number of entries received. If there are more than 8 but less than 16, we will maintain a ladies section for qualification and finals and those ladies that don’t make the final rounds will play in a combined Plate event receiving an 8 pin bonus per game.
The event will run from Friday to Sunday. Each bowler will bowl two qualifying blocks of 5 games. One block must be played on Friday and the other block can be played on either Friday or Saturday. We have in the past provided solutions for those bowlers that are not able to bowl during the day on the Friday, but this has been very limited and is not guaranteed. Decisions on whether we can do this and how this will work will not be taken until after the closing date for the event. Bowlers should therefore make every effort to enter as normal or places may not be available, and they will not be able to preselect their squads for Saturday. Please advise us as soon as possible if you feel that you need assistance.
Please note that most people work on Fridays, so that, on its own, is unlikely to be accepted as justification.
With the maximum number of individual bowlers set at 84, places will only be reserved once an online entry has been received and the fees have been paid. Considering how many bowlers are eligible there is every chance that the event will be fully subscribed. Therefore, we may not be able to offer re-entry. However, re-entries may be requested, and a short list will be maintained. These will be offered, after the closing date, by the Tournament Manager on a first come first served basis to fill up any available spots. Payment for re-entry will not be taken until the day that you are playing. If you re-enter you must keep one of your original qualifying blocks of 5 games.
Qualification will also be possible by means of a High game (Turbo). Registering for Turbos must be completed before the start of practice for that squad.
2 Entry Fees
Pricing for the event is as follows:
3 The Format and Rules
3.1 Qualification rounds
3.2 The Plate
3.3 The Finals
4 The Schedule:
All these start times are approximate, and we reserve the right to start each squad up to 30 minutes before the scheduled time. Therefore, registration is set to close 30 minutes before the original scheduled start time. Anybody arriving after the start of play will be permitted to join the squad but will start play from the current frame, scoring zero for any previous frames.
Based upon availability, lanes can be booked for practice on the Thursday before the event. Please call the bowling centre directly on 01453 762200 and mention the BTBA TPT Masters so they know which lanes to allocate to you and to ensure that you get the special practice rate. You will need to book lanes at least 2 weeks in advance and be prepared to accept the next available slot. Lanes will be dressed in advance of practice lanes being available, but it is unlikely that they will be redressed between bookings.
